Finger Paints Special Effects Collection

Tonight, I am bringing you the Finger Paints Special Effects Collection that was just released and available at Sally Beauty Supply for $5.49 retail and $4.99 with your Sally's Club Card.  Finger Paints has really caused a commotion among the nail polish world with this collection, everyone who loves nail polish is looking for it. The Special Effects Collection consists of 5 different polishes and are usually used as top coats on other colors.  They are commonly known to bloggers and polish lovers as Flakies! They look really pretty on top of Finger Paints Black Expressionism and Sally's has this color available to go with the collection.  I chose 5 different Finger Paints colors to show them to you on including the black.

Thumb to Pinkie
Finger Paints Add & Abstract/Asylum, Black Expressionism/Flashy,
Avante-Garde Green/Flecked, Bronze Sculpture/Motley and Vintage Violet/Twisted

Add & Abstract, Black Expressionism, Avante-Garde Green, Bronze Sculpture
and Vintage Violet

and Vintage Violet

Finger Paints Special Effects Collection
Asylum, Flashy, Flecked, Motley and Twisted
Even though this collection looks a lot alike in the bottles, in person you
can tell the difference.

Asylum, Flashy, Flecked, Motley and Twisted

Add & Abstract with Asylum, Flashy, Flecked, Motley and Twisted (L-R)

Black Expressionism with Asylum, Flashy, Flecked, Motley and Twisted (L-R)

Avante-Garden Green with Asylum, Flashy, Flecked, Motley and Twisted (L-R)

Bronze Sculpture with Asylum, Flashy, Flecked, Motley and Twisted (L-R)

Vintage Violet with Asylum, Flashy, Flecked, Motley and Twisted (L-R)

Application with all the base coat polishes was done with 2 coats, as usual with Finger Paints they went on smooth and I found them consistent with most of their polishes. The Special Effects Collection was applied one coat in each of the swatches, you could build this up to the coverage you would like the most.  Flakie polishes do tend to be a little thicker than normal polishes as I suspect this has to do with suspension base and with all the mylar flakes in each polish.  But they are really easy to apply.  No top coat was used in any of the swatches.

As hot as these polishes are right now I was lucky enough to find several sets to send to fellow bloggers and friends that doesn't have a local Sally's or lives in other countries (China, Brazil, Canada, UK, and Australia).  Thanks to all my local Sally's Managers and District Manager for helping me acquire these and being so nice! To find your local Sally's you can go to their website at Sally Beauty Supply and you can also join their Face Book at Sally Beauty Supply.  You can follow Finger Paints Nail Polish on their Face Book also.

What do you think about this collection?  Have you purchased it yet or currently looking for it?  Do you have a favorite?  Any dupes from other brands that you can see?

  4. I think I'm alone in this, but I own 4 of these polishes and am planning to return 2 of them. I just don't like how subtle the effect is. Looking at your swatches, it confirms what my own experiments told me- these polishes show best over black, and are very hard to see over most other colors. Thanks for posting this with such a nice variety of colors, though!

  5. Great swatches!! I went to Sally's and only Motley and Asylum were left. Apparently someone scooped up all the others :(. I decided to take Motley. I really like Twisted also though. Hopefully, they will re-stock.

  7. I love your swatches! Thanks for showing the different base colors. I couldn't wait to get all 5 of these and am so happy to have added them to my collection. Finger Paints really stepped up their game with these Limited Edition polishes. Who doesn't love a good flakie?!?! Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Flashy might be similar to Nubar 2010 and Essie Shine of the Times. I don't mind owning all 3 of them, though, because the density of the flakies is different with each polish.

  9. Flashy appears to be another Nubar 2010/Gosh/Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure/etc etc, so I skipped that. My sister gave me Twisted, Motley, and Flecked for Christmas.
